Activity books to practice Chinese for kids

Introducing Max and Mei & Me – Chinese learning kit to improve and elevate the Mandarin learning experience of kids

Max and Mei & Me is the newest series of Max and Mei, the Early Years Collection. A new bi-lingual learning tool aimed at making Mandarin, interactive, intuitive, exciting, fun and so easy to learn. Specially designed for children ages 2 to 5, Max and Mei & Me, the Early Years, offers an accessible range of interactive products with the perfect combination mixture of online and offline learning and hand and eye stimulus for first-time learners.

The Collection is comprised of four learning boxes each one equipped with a different learning theme.

This collection appeals to the cognitive pre-operational stage. Children will be able to increase their use of language and their imitation of adult behaviour all through their favorite medium of playing. It’s well known that young children always develop a fascination with words but they also often play games of make?believe: using an empty box as a car, playing family with siblings, and nurturing imaginary friendships.

Preschoolers, demonstrate an intense interest in learning and an inherent curiosity about the world, which prompts a need to learn as much as possible, as quickly as possible Language and Design

We have selected topics that are closely related to young children’s daily life, which are also some of the first vocab they should encounter with – numbers, clothes, family, colors.

All the materials were designed around the same topic, with the same vocab to reinforce children’s learning.

Rhyme: Children at this age are not expected to recognize all of the Chinese character or write but immersing in all kinds of sounds and words can definitely help with their pronunciation and understanding of the language by developing their phonemic awareness, memory and articulation skills.

Story: The stories were written in simple language with the selected key vocab. Children should be able to understand the key words and the story with the aid of the pictures on the pages and the audio.

Game cards: The multipurpose game cards were designed to suit children at different age and at different stage of learning. For younger or new learners, the cards can simply be used as flash cards. For older or more advanced learners, they can turn into game cards to train their memory, matching skill and cognitive skills – to
associate words with concepts and pictures.

Activity book: Each activity in the activity book was carefully designed to help children develop all sorts of cognitive and fine motor skills. For example, the colour in activity would require the skills of colour recognition, colour-word matching, holding a colour pencil.

Posters, games and puppets: By using these materials, children can not only practice the language but also further develop their gross motor skills by pulling, throwing, picking up, putting down, holding things etc. while doing the activities

So, introduce your child to Mandarin Chinese with Max and Mei & Me, early years series which is the first step for a long term investments in learning Mandarin language.
